Your Southern Coast Adventure begins in Stellenbosch, where we set off on a scenic journey toward one of South Africa’s most breathtaking stretches of coastline. Leaving the Winelands behind, we head toward the ocean where the landscapes quickly transform into dramatic mountain passes and endless sea views.

Our first major highlight is the legendary Clarence Drive, widely considered one of the most scenic coastal drives in the world. This spectacular route winds along rugged cliffs with uninterrupted views of False Bay, offering plenty of photo stops and opportunities to soak up the fresh ocean air. Along the way, we stop at a selection of hidden and lesser-known beaches, giving guests time to explore, relax and experience the raw beauty of the Southern Cape coastline away from the crowds.

We then continue to the stunning Harold Porter National Botanical Garden, located at the foot of the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve. Here, guests enjoy a relaxed nature walk through lush fynbos landscapes, waterfalls, mountain streams and indigenous plant life unique to the Cape Floral Kingdom. The garden offers easy and scenic hiking trails suitable for all fitness levels, allowing guests to experience one of South Africa’s richest biodiversity areas.

Next, we head to Stony Point Nature Reserve, home to one of the largest land-based African Penguin colonies in South Africa. Guests can walk along the elevated boardwalks to observe these incredible birds in their natural habitat, along with other coastal wildlife and panoramic ocean views.

Our final stop takes us to the iconic seaside town of Hermanus, famous for its coastal charm, vibrant atmosphere and world-class ocean views. Guests have time to explore the town, browse local shops, enjoy lunch or take a scenic walk along the famous Hermanus Cliff Path. During whale season (typically June to November), Hermanus becomes one of the best land-based whale watching destinations in the world, often providing unforgettable sightings.

After a full day of coastline exploration, nature, wildlife and unforgettable scenery, we make our way back to Stellenbosch, arriving in the late afternoon with cameras full of memories and a fresh appreciation for the beauty of South Africa’s Southern Coast.
