Tour Description:

This Freedom Day, Vibe Van invites you on a powerful and inspiring journey that honours the heroes, struggles, and triumphs of South Africa’s path to democracy. This is no ordinary day trip — this is a celebration of courage, a tribute to resilience, and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet a living legend.

The Journey Begins:
We depart early from Stellenbosch and head into the beating heart of South Africa’s democracy: Cape Town. Our first stop is the iconic Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela and many others were imprisoned for daring to dream of a free and equal South Africa.

Hop aboard the ferry for a scenic ride across the bay. The sea air, the city skyline, and the looming silhouette of the island set the tone for what’s to come. Once on the island, we dive into a deeply moving guided tour of the Robben Island Museum, led by someone who once lived those stories — not just studied them. You’ll explore the prison blocks, the lime quarry, and the grounds where political prisoners dreamed of justice.

Lunch with a Legend:
After returning to the mainland, we gather for a very special lunch — and not just for the food. You’ll be sitting face-to-face with Pat Fahrenfort, anti-apartheid activist, author of Spanner in the Works, and a true South African icon. This is more than a Q&A — it’s a heart-to-heart with a woman who lived the grind of factory floors, fought injustice with unshakable spirit, and helped build the very foundation of our democracy.

Pat’s story is raw, real, and utterly riveting. From being forced to leave school at 15 to becoming a powerful voice in South Africa’s first democratic government, even making significant contributions to South Africa’s new Constitution. Pat will share what it means to rise, resist, and rewrite history.
