Activity Description

We start the day with a lesson from on the ancient ways of the San people. During our visit to Khwattu San Centre, we learn their traditions, culture, and ancient way of life. This amazing experience transports us back thousands of years, setting the scene for the rest of days’ awesome activities.

Next, arrive in the picturesque fishing village of Paternoster, known for its white-washed cottages and vibrant local culture. Stroll along the pristine beach, savouring the salty sea air and the possibility of spotting dolphins and whales in the distance.

At Paternoster we will embark on an exciting hike through the Cape Columbine reserve. Littered with wildflowers which bloom in early August, and bordering the crystal-clear Atlantic Ocean, this reserve offers views like nowhere else in the world. It is also home to the only remaining man-controlled lighthouse in South Africa. We visit local craft shops and also source fresh seafood for our Surf n’ Turf lunch.

For those who want to experience Paternoster and Cape Columbine in truly unique fashion, the option to E-Bike along the beach and in the reserve is built into the tour itinerary. This is a once in a lifetime E-Bike experience! Ride alongside the Atlantic coastline while experiencing countless colours of wildflowers. The E-Bike tour includes a visit to the lighthouse and a glass of bubbly on your return. Additional cost = R990.

If you are looking for a more serene experience, opt for kayaking along the Atlantic coast at one of South Africa’s most renowned fishing villages. This experience gives you ample time to zen out and catch a tan, all while cruising along an azure coastline. Additional cost = R350.

We end our day at the West Coast National Park, a gem of biodiversity and natural beauty. Embark on a game drive, where you may spot eland, bontebok, and various bird species. The tranquil Langebaan Lagoon offers a serene setting for birdwatching and photography, one of the best in the world in fact. Be amused by shocking pink flamingos and old wise pelicans! We wrap up the day with coffee served at a small bay in the lagoon, the perfect place to soak up the sunset before heading back to Stellenbosch.
